R.I.P. AcmeManiacs
March 1999 - April 2002
It is with a heavy heart that I, the former weblady of AcmeManiacs, bid this site farewell.
"Why?" you might be asking. "Why did it have to die so soon? Is it because Tripod is reducing the amount of webspace you get with the free service?" Good guess, but no. Tripod has been an incredibly gracious host these past three years. Not once have I had a serious problem with them, and the one or two times something did go wrong, they fixed it quickly and fixed it well, which is something you can't say about a lot of online help. It has been incredibly stable and reliable for a free web service. In short, they're good, and they're getting crowded. So I absolutely understand why they have to start limiting bandwidth and space now. And I'm not bitter about that.
Have I lost the love I once had for Animaniacs? Absolutely not! I still quote the show, still have my plushies and shirt from the WB store, still have taped episodes, a CD, tons of mp3's... in short, there's probably no way I'll ever stop being crazy about Animaniacs. Yakko, Wakko, Dot, and many of the other characters stole my heart in 1993, and I still haven't gotten it back. =)
Do I not have the time to maintain a webpage anymore? Sometimes I get busy, yes...very much so, at times...but I can definitely look after a website. Hopefully I might get paid to do that someday, when I actually make websites that don't suck. =p
Which brings me to the real reason AcmeManiacs is no more - it has left behind two "children," one that's up and one along the way. Taffy Warner and some of her friends have moved to Animated Diversions, a new site hosted by the gracious and awesome people at Toon Zone. It features some original comics by a few of its members, one of which is yours truly. I update my part of the site, called Callista's Cafe, at least once every week. So if you want to see me draw some new stuff for once, or just want to check out the other comics (which are WAAAAY better than my sucky stuff =p) click on the link above (or just type http://diversions.toonzone.net into your browser).
I will soon be opening up another Animaniacs fan site, this one with more of a focus on Rita. She's not only one of the most underappreciated characters on the show (in my humble opinion), but also kinda like my new online persona (my screen name on the Toon Zone boards is Singin' Stray Cat, as a matter of fact). I'll go into more detail on the site itself. But don't worry, I still plan to have general Animaniacs stuff - like I said before, I still love the Warners too. You'll still find some .wav files and stuff for your desktop. The only thing you probably won't find any more are the mp3's. They're too big to store, and downloading them eats up a helluva lot of bandwidth. But you'll still be able make a request for a song by e-mailing me at garfena257@aol.com, and if I have it, I'll send it to you. When my new site goes up, I'll link to it here.
And that'll be the last update I'll do on a wonderful webpage that's kept me busy and entertained for the past three years. It was great, but...it's time to move on. Farewell, Tripod. Farewell, AcmeManiacs. Farewell...and thank you. I also want to thank everyone who's visited this page, and especially those of you who took the time to send me an e-mail or sign my guestbook. You have NO idea how much it means to me when someone does that. =) Good night, everybody. Ashita mo zettai Nihonbare - tomorrow will be an absolutely beautiful day. =)
Your fellow fanimaniac,
- Lily D, aka Taffy Warner
P.S. VeryPinkyGirl, Timmo Warner, and Misty Warner, I still have your pictures and bios on file. E-mail me if you want me to send 'em to you.
